Chocolate Toffee Scones

  I love Scones!

They have got to be one of the best tasting quick breads I have ever tried!

And they just go so well with a nice hot cup of coffee or tea.

I wish the computer had a smell button, because these
smell so heavenly when you pull them out of the oven.
It's Yummy Goodness!

So, I got around to thinking I needed to try and come up with my own version of a scone, that fit my craving for the day and I happen to come up with these after looking at several different recipes.

Chocolate Chip Toffee Scones

1 1/2 c. white flour
1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 stick butter, cold
1 egg
1/2 c. coconut milk
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1/4 c. toffee bits
1/2 c. chocolate chips

Combine the flours, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.  Slice the cold butter into flour mixture. Using a pastry blender or your hands, combine until it forms into pea size crumbs.
Stir in the toffee bits and the chocolate chips.

In another bowl, stir the coconut milk, the egg and the almond extract.  Add to flour mixture.
Stir until just combined.

On a lightly floured surface, place your dough. Create a mound with the dough and then divide into 2 equal portions.  Place both onto a cookie sheet.  Now cut into 4 equal triangles, gently separate on the sheet.  Lightly sprinkle with sugar, if desired.

Bake at 400 for about 13-16 minutes or until they look golden brown.

These would be perfect for your next Tea Party!

Enjoy!

Blessings,

Hi Amy! I love scones! I had never had them before, until my daughter and I went to a Mom/Daughter Tea at church. Wow, my eyes were opened :)

This sounds wonderful! And you have a testimonial from your mother-in-law too! I'll be back to write this down. I've never made scones before, but this looks like a winner.

Thanks for sharing! So nice to see you today, my friend :)
