Lemon Bread and Tea Please...

I'm sure you all know by now
that I LOVE to bake!

I am always in the kitchen baking
something scrumptious to snack on.

I love quick breads!
You can create a wide range of flavors
to a simple quick bread recipe!

So, grab a chair and sit for a bit,
grab a cup of tea and let me tell you
about the recipe...

My grandma loved anything lemon.
You name it, she loved it!
She always told me that something so sour
has a way of putting a smile on your face.

I really never of thought of it that way,
but it's does have some truth to it.

Have you ever given a slice of lemon to a toddler to see their reaction?
That indeed, does bring a smile! And a few tears of laughter.

I loved being in the kitchen with my grandma,
it's one of those many treasured moments I will always hold dear!

This china was my grandma's
and when I got married, it was given to me.
What a treasure!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoying a cup of tea
and a good recipe with me!

Pretty pink, china for tea, God's Grace Overflows

LEMON BREAD

1 3/4 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. milk
1/4 c. cooking oil
2 tsp. finely shredded lemon peel
1 Tbsp. lemon juice

GLAZE
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. sugar

Grease a loaf pan and set aside.  Preheat oven to 350.
In a medium bowl stir together the flour, the sugar, baking powder and salt.

In another bowl combine the egg, milk, oil, lemon peel and lemon juice.
 Add to the flour mixture.
Stir just till moistened.
Spoon the batter into your prepared pan.

Bake for 50-55 minutes or until wooden toothpick
inserted near center comes out clean.
While bread is cooling, make glaze.
Remove bread from pan and brush the lemon glaze over the top.

I always double this recipe,
because 1 loaf of bread around here goes rather quickly!

Have a lovely week, friend!

In His Grace,

Hi Amy! My mother's favorite dessert was lemon cake. And it had a glaze just like yours. While your recipe reminds you of your Grandmother, mine reminds me of Mom. She died in 2010, but her baking legacy goes on. Such a comfort, isn't it?
Blessings,
Ceil
