Make Time...

Hello Friends!

I wanted to tell you all a little something a
precious woman named Twila told me the other day.

We went to visit all the Residents at my hubby's work
and Twila comes up and she was just beaming with Joy
that she was able to see my boys.
She tells me "they are so well behaved"
and "they are just so adorable".
I told her Thank you so much, I really try my best.

She goes on to say with tears in her eyes
I always made the time to spend as many
moments and hours with my babies when they were little.
We always spent every hour of every day worth living.
I did the same thing with my grandchildren,
she goes on to say and now my grandchildren are in their 30's!
And you know what's sad?
They don't come by, they say they are too busy.
See, I invested my time in my children and my grandchildren
and now they just don't make the time to do the same.
She tells me your babies grow up way too fast,
enjoy them now and invest in them.

She gave my hand a gentle squeeze,
a tear runs down her face
and she says I'm so glad for moms like you
that make the time for little ladies like me.

This just broke my heart.  I grieved for her.

Dear Ones,
We shouldn't be so busy with life that we can't invest time
in our families, friends, precious grandma and papa's.

Life is too short, to be too busy for a walk with a friend,
a baking day with your mom,
a date with your spouse,
a conversation with an elderly person...
the list is endless, really!

Our days are numbered here on this earth
Make the Time and Make them Count!

I hope you have a lovely day.

Thanks for stopping by!

In God's Grace,

How sad the lady's children and grandchildren don't make time for her, it will be their lost. Thanks for reminding us that it is the little things and moments spent with those we say we love that might make a big differance in their lives.

Oh wow Amy,
this is such a bitter sweet story. I am so glad you posted it. What a dear lady. It is such an important reminder; something has shifted in our society, and there is a disconnect in the generations. I am sad about it. I can agree with her about your boys being well behaved, and I have no doubt you were all such a joy in that place. I love that Barry works there and that you go to visit. What a great post.
Love and Blessings,
Pam

Dear Amy, I loved this post! We all need to make time for every generation... I am seriously thinking about doing some much needed ministering in this area!
I have tears in my eyes also, may we never be too busy to visit and call and keep in touch with those who have spent their lives imparting into us! Well done dear Amy!
Love, Roxy

Hi Amy! What a blessing you were to that precious woman. And how thoughtful of you to bring your boys with you! My husband's aunt is in an assisted living place, and he visits her every Sunday.

I take her to doctor appointments (I blogged about it once), and the occasional lunch with a friend...but you remind me that I can certainly do more. I'm sure she'd love a visit 'just because'. So thank you for your story and lesson. I think it was for me!
Hugs,
Ceil

My mum is in a nursing home (she had a stroke) and my dad visits her every day. One of things he has noticed is the number of residents who never get visitors, even on Mothers Day or at Christmas. Some of the residents he knows quite well and knows they have children and grandchildren, some have quite a few and it finds it very sad. So he often goes and chats with those who are alone to cheer up their day. There are so many elderly people either living alone at home or in nursing homes with no one interested enough to care about them - even to stop and chat for a few moments. It is reflection of our modern society - and I don't think they are really "too busy" I think they are "too lazy".

I have just written a piece for my blog on "love thy neighbour" (for next monday) and wonder how many people can even love their own family enough to visit them :( let alone their neighbours.

Wonderful post. It's so true that we need to "make" time.

Unfortunately this is all to common in our society. I visit a lady in my neighborhood who rarely sees her children or grandchildren. Thanks for sharing.
