Granola Bars

Did someone say Granola Bars?! Is it healthy? Do you need an energy boost?
Well, by golly these ones are yummy and healthy and anyone will eat them!
The only down fall to them is I wish I would have made 2 pans, they are that good!

Give them a try if you'd like,
Create your own combinations of flavors and make it your way.

Enjoy!

Granola Bars

2 cups old fashioned oats, uncooked
1 cup flour
1 cup dried fruit ( I used plums)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup wheat germ
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup veggie oil
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1 egg

Preheat oven to 350. Line pan with foil and lightly grease. In a large bowl combine oats, flour, dried fruit, brown sugar, wheat germ, cinnamon and salt till well mixed.
Stir in the oil, syrup, vanilla and egg until blended.
With wet hands, pat oat mixture into prepared pan. Bake until edges turn pale golden, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. When cooled, invert pan onto cutting board; remove foil. Cut into strips. Store in an airtight container or freeze them in a tin.

I added a handful of mini chocolate chips to mine.
I got this recipe from my new cookbook: Good Housekeeping, Christmas Cookies!
And, boy are they ever so delicious!

Give God what's right, not what's left!

Those look great Amy. I have wanted to make granola bars, but have never done it yet. I am sure they would make a nice light breakfast on days you have to dash (although Steve would never settle for granola bars for breakfast, yet I would. - He would gobble them up for dessert though ha ha). Alright... it is going on my list.
I love all of your pictures on your side bar... everything looks so nice.

These look yummy and I think I can 'modify' them to be gluten free by just switching the flour~
Thank you for commenting on my blog :)

I always feel it is important to have a live taste tester. So I volunteer for this job position!
Plus I will do it for free :)
Blessings, Roxy
