Listening To God...

Are you equipped with the right tools
to learn how to really listen to God?

Do you really know what tools to use?

No, you don't need a hammer or a screwdriver for this lesson...

What tools do you use?

Here are a few that I have found very helpful over the years.

  A regular time and place:
Select a slot on your schedule and a corner
of your world and claim it for God.

Make a reservation with just you and God!

For me it's first thing in the morning.
But you may prefer in the evenings.

   You need your BIBLE opened.
God speaks to us through His Word.
The first step in reading through your bible
is to ask God to help you understand it.

Don't go to scripture looking for your own idea,
go searching for God's.

And the last tool is... not only do we need a regular time and an open bible,
we also need a listening heart....
If we want to be just like Jesus, let God have ALL of You!

Spend time listening for Him until you have
received your lesson for the day
and then apply it!

I have found these small tools to really help me
get in a deep study with God each day.

And I always have my heart turned on to the beat of God!

God's Grace Overflows

I hope you all have a wonderfully blessed week!

In His Grace,

Hi Amy! I love your tools for prayer! I remember reading a quote from Corrie Ten Boom that said we should all have prayer appointment times with God, and to show up whether we 'felt like it' or not. God can handle our emotions!

The listening is so important too. I am still working on getting better at that. True friendship shares, but listens too, I have to remember that.

Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day :)

Beautiful thoughts Amy! I share your sentiments too! It is not just enough to spend time with the Lord, we must be careful not to spend our time "monopolizing" the conversation, or monologue as some people think prayer is. Instead, perhaps the most important tool of all is to listen, and then obey what we hear from the Lord. But it all starts with that time with Him and the Word each day. Your post is wonderfully spoken! May the Lord continue to enrich and bless your time with Him each day!

I always love to be reminded as to how important this is to be doing all the days of our lives!

It's a beautiful post and a wonderful way to dedicate yourself and seek the Lord.

Amy, don't be fearful about your children as you go and enjoy yourselves. They are in God's hands.

Blessings!

Dearest Amy, oh, thank you so much for this beautiful reminder and blessed encouragement...

I love how you said, ''If we want to be just like Jesus, let God have all of you...''

Oh, so very true! I love my morning 'tea with Jesus' and the strength that I gain through seeking Him first...it doesn't always happen, and on those days I can feel I didn't fill my mind with Scripture before starting my day!

And I must just tell you how beautiful your blog's name is...I think it is just lovely!

Have a wonderfully blessed weekend!
Much love in Christ,
Kelly-Anne

Such a lovely post Amy; it is an inspiring reminder, and the best encouragement, I love all of your tools, and they have always been my favorite way of being with Him. I find that I my timing does vary, but each day I find my portion with Him like this.
