A Little Bit of Yellow and A Little Bit of Lemon...

Hello There!  How are you doing today?
It's the first day of Spring and
there are signs of it everywhere.

The daffodils are in bloom....

I love the vibrant yellow these
delicate flowers hold!

It's a new season... A fresh new start!

For a while now it's been a bit hard.
 Everything we've tried to do
just seemed a bit, well hurky jerky.
I mean everything....
From purchasing new furniture to getting new safes
(which we still don't know where the safes are)
to my hubby's vehicle not running...
I mean, the list just continues on.

So, starting today...in this new Spring season...
I am starting fresh...
The slate has been wiped clean.
I'm walking hand in hand with God
and I'm ready!!

I will Trust in the Lord with all MY heart!!

How has the passed few weeks
been treating you all?

I've read on several blogs that most of you
are still inundated with snow.
It's been crazy warm here.  Like high 80's warm!
That's too warm to start out the Spring.

It's very dry here in my neck of the woods too.
Too Dry!
We need rain or snow....Badly!!

We have been praying constantly for moisture.
Would you all say a prayer
for this dry and thirsty land?

*************

Okay, I've rambled on long enough...

Would you like to try a yummy lemon bread recipe?

My son absolutely LOVES lemon!!

One thing that I love about this bread, is it's moist.
And very lemony...

Lemon Bread
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp grated lemon peel
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk

Glaze
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 Tbsp lemon juice

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, lemon juice and peel.
Combine the flour, baking powder and salt, gradually
stir into the creamed mixture alternately with milk,
beating well after each addition.

Pour into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until
 toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Combine glaze ingredients.
Remove bread from pan and drizzle with glaze.

Serve warm with a cuppa tea or coffee.

** This can be made with Gluten Free flour
and it still turns out moist**

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by...

Hugs & Blessings,

Several years ago we were in a drought. It was an awful year. Everything was ugly and there was so much worry about crops, wells and lakes that supply city water drying up. I will be praying you receive some moisture.

I understand about being out of sorts. That has been the year for us. Your great attitude with cetainly help during those times.

Have a great week!

Morning, and Happy Spring to you! Yes things have been a bit of a challenge for myself and Hubby, but as you said each day and season is new beginning!
I love any kind of quick bread I think. and I still hope to make some pumpkin bread soon! One thing I have noticed is that G/F does not have to mean it is all dried out! Thanks for sharing!

Happy first day of spring my friend! I hope that this new season will bring a change for the better in your life! I will pray for rain and moisture for you, the Lord is able! Seems it will come all at once, all those prayers will just start adding up, lol! I'm glad you are seeing daffodils - no signs of them here yet, but our snow is melting, so it shouldn't be long now! I'm sorry to hear you have had such a difficult week and hope that your husband's vehicle gets to running again soon, and that the new furniture and safes arrive safely for you, and also praying for your son too. And that lemon bread - my family loves your recipe, it is so awesome! I haven't tried it with GF, but may do that, maybe my tummy will be happier with it. I love the tast of it but later, not so much, lol.... I think I do better with GF things, but my family doesn't care too much for it. Have a blessed day my friend, praying for you! It is spring :)

Oh does that lemon bread look SO good! Yes, we had those warmer temps too a couple of weeks ago but then last week we were in the low 20's at night. It is warm again and finally really acting more like spring...I would say most of the flowering trees have been ruined for this year....oh well...life does go on! It is nice to get a fresh start though when things haven't gone the way we planned. God is GOOD...ALL the time! Hugs!

HI! I know life at times is hard, and we question. Trusting in the Lord with all our own hearts is so important. He is there with us through it all! Yes, it is spring, and the start of a new season. For us with snow, it's all in good time. :) Praying that you also get some moisture where you are.

Love your lemon bread recipe! It's such a sweet thing to have those simple pleasures to treat our families with! Thank you for sharing your recipe.

Praying you have a blessed day! Hugs!
